DISCIPLE Bible Study Mini-Training Event

Are there people in your congregation who are hungering for the Word of God? DISCIPLE Bible Study can help transform your church into a biblically nourished congregation that nurtures and encourages people to live as disciples of Christ.

FUMC Gladewater will host a DISCIPLE Bible Study Mini-Training event for facilitators on July 24th from 2:00 until 5:00pm. This training opportunity led by Jill Krone, DISCIPLE Bible Study Taskforce Coordinator for the Texas Annual Conference, is offered free of charge to participants within the Texas Annual Conference as a way of assisting in keeping the cost of bringing DBS to a church at a minimum.

Topics to be discussed include an overview of the DISCIPLE Study, components of the study, the role of leaders and how to implement the study. There will also be time for conversation on ways to promote, prepare and fund Disciple locally. Participants will also be able to review a practice session and observe the planning required through examination of the DBS teacher helps.

Mt. Pleasant Quadrant is Looking For Leaders

The Mt. Pleasant quadrant will host leadership training on Jan 10 from 2:30-4:30 at First UMC – Pittsburg. We are hoping to have workshops for the following: lay leaders, lay leadership development, sprc, trustees, missions, finance, evangelism, christian education, children’s ministry, youth ministry, adult ministry, communications, and worship. Bill Taylor will be our speaker, and will lead the sprc workshop. And we will have copies of the UM guidelines to pass out to all the committee members present.

But here’s where I need your help:

We are trying to find the best leaders in these various committees from our district to lead the workshops. If you know someone who is doing a great job in one of these areas (or who has done a great job recently) and who could lead and inspire others, and direct one of these workshops, could you please give me names and contact info asap? You can email me at pastor@tennisonumc.org or call me at 903-563-6163.

Thanks, and have a blessed Thanksgiving!

Yours in Christ,

Chuck Huffman
