Many of you attended the meeting in September where Bishop Huie met with laity and pastors from the North District at Tennison Memorial. She met with each group to get your thoughts about obstacles and opportunities of church vitality and effectiveness for the methodist church. If you were not able to attend, you still have a chance for your voice to be heard. The following is from the Texas Annual Conference Website. (read the original)
Feedback Sought from TAC Laity
9/29/2010
Join our Fan Page:
Bishop Huie has been traveling around the Texas Annual Conference and has received thoughtful feedback from laity in each of the nine districts. The turnout has been great with over 1,000 in attendance and our churches are well represented.
In an effort to include others in the conversation who were unable to attend, the same questions will be posted on our Facebook Fan Page beginning Monday, October 4th and all are encouraged to respond in the comments section below each question. (One question will be posted each day for three days.) If you DID NOT attend one of the meetings, please answer the forthcoming questions.
The hope is that offering an open forum will invite even more thoughtful response from an even broader cross-section of our fellow Texas Methodists. The least represented group has been young adults (under age 40). We would like to encourage response from all, and if you are in that age group or know others who are – please take a moment to respond to the questions as they are posted.
If you aren’t a “fan” of our fan page, please take a moment to visit the page and hit the “like” button (you will need to be logged into your Facebook account to do this). By doing this you will also be able to keep up to date with the latest news that we post there and can connect with other United Methodists who are also fans.
Not on Facebook? Now might be a good time to join! If you don’t want to be on Facebook for any reason, you can also submit your answer to each question to: bmills@txcumc.org. If you want to tweet about it, please use the #txac hashtag so we can follow the conversation there as well.
