Clergy Focus Day with Dr. Marcia McFee

Dear Clergy,

This summer, the Texas Conference Choir Clinic for Music and Worship Arts is happy to be hosting Dr. Marcia McFee, worship professor, consultant and Director of Worship for General Conference, as our worship leader for the week! This year, as we celebrate our 60^th camp, we are offering a special Clergy Focus Day at Lakeview as a part of our Camp Curriculum. Bishop Huie shares my excitement this year as we offer special classes for Clergy for the first time on Thursday, June 16^th. Of course you are welcome to come and spend the entire week with us June 13-17, and experience numerous creative worship services and workshops on a variety of subjects as we focus on “Seasons to Celebrate”, emphasizing the Seasons of the Church year, but if that isn’t possible, I would especially love to have you join us for the Clergy Focus Day.

Marcia travels across the country teaching exciting and interactive workshops for local congregations that send teams home feeling inspired for their work and with resources and tools to make it happen – no matter the size of congregation or “style” of worship. Refresh your passion and skills for the work of worship design and leadership! Learn how to use more sensory-rich and effective communication and how to plan deeply meaningful worship without getting burned out!

Some Clergy are joining us on Wed. evening, when we will experience a unique candlelight service with Marcia in the Tabernacle. On Thursday morning, Marcia will lead our morning worship with a focus on Pentecost, followed by several workshops with you in mind. You are not limited to those workshops, however, and may attend or observe any of our classes. In addition to Marcia, there are over a dozen other clinicians and performing artists and a variety of classes. Thursday evening, we will experience a World Communion Service. If you would like to serve Communion with Bishop Huie at that service, please let me know.

United Methodist Men Spring Retreat

There are a few days left to sign up for this year’s Methodist Men Spring Retreat. The retreat is held March 25-27 at Lakeview Methodist Conference Center. This Year’s guest preacher is Reverend Matt Idom and keynote speaker is Revend Will Knuckols. Music will be led by Reggie Clemmons with Gregg Wiggers playing keyboard.

Confirmation Breakfast with Bishop Huie

2010-2011 Confirmation Candidates, are invited along with parents, pastors, Christian educators, youth leaders and teachers for youth fellowship to come have breakfast and hear Bishop Janice Riggle Huie’s testimony and call to our youth to make disciples of Jesus Christ. This gathering will take place at Lakeview Methodist Conference Center on Saturday morning, February 19, and will give confirmation youth a chance to visit and get to know the bishop of The Texas Annual Conference. Clergy Spouses,

The lazy days of summer are slipping away, and the hustle of fall is quickly approaching. In your planning, do you feel your heart rate start to increase from excitement…or maybe from stress? Before your calendar fills up this fall, I urge you to set aside one weekend to escape from your schedule. Set aside one weekend to join with your brothers and sisters in Christ to “stand firm and…see the deliverance the LORD will bring you today” (Exodus 14:13.)

Register for District Clergy Retreat

District Clergy Retreat at Lake View Baptist Retreat Center in Lone Star, Texas. February 1 at 9 am through February 2 at noon. Guest Speaker wil be Gil Rendle. There will be $75 fee for overnighters and a $40 fee for commuters. Flat rates. No breakdown for meals or anything else. Please RSVP for overnighters with Lonna Nunn in the Texarkana Office 794-6231.
