Tennison Memorial United Methodist Church

We invite you all to join us for these special opportunities of worship, fellowship and (of course) food during our annual Lenten series. We are thrilled to have Dr. Pat Day as our guest speaker.

Dr. Day has served as senior pastor of First United Methodist Church in Shreveport since 1992. He was instrumental in leading a major turn-around of the 3,800 member congregation. The Sunday worship services are broadcast each week on the NBC affiliate KTAL and on the ABC affiliate KTBS.
Dr. Day earned his B.A. degree from Austin College in 1971, his Master of Theology degree from Southern Methodist University in 1975, and his Doctor of Ministry degree from SMU in 1976.

He is a member of the National Speakers Association and is in constant demand as an inspirational and motivational speaker for churches, schools, colleges, conferences, civic organizations, and community events. He has also written several articles for Net Results magazine for evangelism and church growth, and is the author of the inspirational book “Growing Into Greatness.”

We do hope you will make every effort to attend each service, and to invite others to join us for what promises to be a glorious time of worship, preparing our hearts for the celebration of our Lord’s resurrection at Easter!

A SPECIAL INVITATION FOR PASTORS – On Monday, March 15, at 2PM, Dr. Day will lead a workshop for pastors on Passionate Worship, sharing ideas and resources to help you better plan and prepare for worship.

• Are you frustrated that your church is stuck at 25, 50 or 100 on Sundays? Are you saddened that your worship attendance is slowly declining each year? Does your heart break to see a bus load of school children drive past your building each weekday, but your children’s department is empty on Sunday? Do the tears flow because your own sister stopped coming to worship?

• Are you excited that your church has recently experienced growth, new households are attending, the congregation is filled with new energy and new life?

• My friends, I dream of the day when every one of our United Methodist churches are alive, vibrant, and filled beyond capacity praising and worshipping the Lord Jesus Christ every Sunday.

• This event is just for you. The Small Church Leadership Institute is designed to equip laity and pastors with the knowledge and skills to lead their small attendance church to a higher level of health and vitality.

• The generous financial support of five Annual Conferences (Missouri, Oklahoma, Kansas East, Kansas West, and Arkansas) and the United Methodist Foundation of Arkansas – has enabled us to attract the best authorities on small church transformation in the country: (Alice Mann, Dr. Tim Reaves, and Dr. Doug Anderson (The Race to Reach Out)

• Alice Mann, Senior Consultant with the Alban Institute and author of several books including Can Our Church Live? Redeveloping Congregations in Decline, and Holy Conversations: Strategic Planning as a Spiritual Practice for Congregations, will be our opening keynote speaker.
