Sewing Ministry
Dear Friends,
We are back in business! We are giving away FREE fabric and getting ready to collect the handmade items from churches whose sewing ministries are willing to support the Cote d’Ivoire Adopt a Student Program during annual conference.
We already have 3 churches from Central North signed up to help and one from South district. Brant Mills recently posted the information below on the TAC Facebook page to get the word out that we need HELP! We are still finding people who have never heard about the fabric and are excited to help! We need to connect with others who have not heard about it. J
Contact your district office for fabric or contact us at the conference office to send/deliver fabric to your churches. More information will follow in the weeks to come about the items we will have for sale. We are still looking for people to make bib aprons like the ones that you can see on the website from last year or anything that would be popular with our conference attendees.
Let me know if you know someone willing to contribute their time and energy to this project. Thanks for your help.
· The Center for Missional Excellence is seeking churches with a sewing ministry or members that sew who would be interested in making items to be sold at Annual Conference using the special fabric from Cote d’Ivoire. http://www.txcumc.org/news/detail/2694

The Game Is On!
Are you ready to get healthier and leaner in 2012?
The Center for Clergy Excellence has announced a weight loss competition among the districts and the North District wants to win! There are some great incentives too:
All participating clergy in the winning district will receive a check for 8% of their personal 2012 Group Health Benefits contribution (in September 2012);
All churches with participating clergy in the winning district will receive a one month holiday from their Group Health Benefits contribution (also in September 2012);
Individual incentives are doubled – lose 5% of your weight and receive $200; lose 10% and receive another $200; additional benefits as detailed on the Clergy Excellence page of the TAC website;
Rebates of 50% of fitness purchases, up to $150 – such as Weight Watchers fees and food products, gym membership, exercise equipment and clothing; more information and a complete list is on the Clergy Excellence page of the TAC website.
The Weight Loss Challenge is open to active clergy who have attended a Day of Wellness; spouses and staff are not eligible. If you have not attended a Day of Wellness, there are still dates available, including one scheduled for the North District.
We are going to sweeten the pot in the North District and have a challenge within a challenge. Each quadrant will compete with the others in the district, and Bill Taylor is going to add some district in-centives…more information on that to be announced.
Each quadrant has a team captain who will track the total quadrant weight loss and offer tips and encouragement. To begin, contact the district office or a Team captain:
