First United Methodist Church of Hallsville is seeking a full-time (30-35 hours a week) Director of Children’s Ministries, with the goal of filling the position by August 1, 2012. First Methodist is a congregation in suburban East Texas (outside of Longview) that offers traditional and contemporary worship styles and a growing ministry with children of all ages at multiple times throughout the week.
Applicants must be committed to Jesus Christ, love children, and demonstrate a passion for helping children of all ages grow as disciples of Jesus. Applicants must have good interpersonal skills and be able to effectively communicate with children and their parents, as well as work as a member of the staff team. They must be familiar with developmentally appropriate methods for ministering to children.
Applicants must be able to inspire, recruit, train and equip adult volunteers. They must be familiar with and able to work within the Methodist tradition. Preference may be given to applicants with a Christian education degree and previous professional children’s ministry experience, but all applications are welcome. Salary will be commensurate with experience and education.
